OK, so I'm very familiar with cricket, cutthroat, 320, 420, etc. Anybody got any other games they'd like to share? Looking for a new diversion.

Re: Looking for new games
Wed, May 19, 2004 - 4:08 PMHave you played extended cricket, 301, or 501?
301- double in- double out
501- straight in-double out
extended cricket - like cricket except the numbers go from 14-20, a T for triples, a D for doubles, and finally a B for bullseye. It's played the same, although it lasts longer because of the doubles and triples. -

Re: Looking for new games
Thu, May 20, 2004 - 7:55 AMWe play our extended cricket as triple, double, bed, where the B is for three darts in the same number (three in a bed). -

Re: 'extended cricket'
Sun, December 26, 2004 - 12:55 PMWhen I lived in Santa Cruz, we called this 'Mouse', but it was only 15-20, triples, doubles, and three-in-a-beds (signified by a triangle symbol on the score board). -

Re: 'extended cricket'
Sun, December 26, 2004 - 1:36 PMOh, and Mouse is also a 'slop' game--even in Santa Cruz, where unlike most places I've been, Cricket is not considered a 'slop' game.

Re: Looking for new games
Tue, June 15, 2004 - 12:42 AMI've been playing "extended" cricket a lot lately! (it seems to be called 'Chase' around here.) We do the same: 20 - 14, bulls, trips, doubles and 3 in a bed. It really puts a fun spin on cricket strategy.

Re: Looking for new games
Wed, September 22, 2004 - 2:33 PMmy dad and I play a game called busted, first dart on the board sets your points then you try to double out based on your first throw, if you go over then you bust back to your previous points, it can be a quick game, so its usually best of 7, its kinda like the end of 301/501 games only with out all the bull shit in the middle, makes you hit what you want, other wise youll get down to one of those 1 double one out scenarios, good luck

Burma Road
Sun, December 26, 2004 - 1:35 PMI've never heard of 320 or 420, but here's one of my favorite games: Burma Road.
I especialy like to play it after a particularly grueling game of '01, where both players have been trying to double-out for umpteen turns, because it has a fixed number of turns. It also has an additional 'excitement factor' because the points lead can switch suddenly and drastically between players.
First, squeeze a couple of new rows into the score board, so it looks like this:
20
19
D[oubles]
18
17
T[triples]
16
15
B
Each player *starts* with 40 points, and play proceeds like this:
You start at the top of the scoreboard, shooting as many 20s as you can (you ONLY get three throws per number/category!). If you get one 20, you add 20 to your score--if you get nine 20s, then not should the bar buy you a pitcher of beer, but you'll add 180 to your score (in other words, doubles and triples count as usual). But here's the catch: If you DON'T get a 20, you cut your score in half! Play proceeds *in order* down the scoreboard, and ends with bulls, which are worth 25 points (50 for double of course).
When halving an odd score, round up--so half of 59 becomes 30.
Oh, and for the doubles and triples categories, ANY double (including bulls) or triple counts. NEVER will a triple-1 feel as good as in this game--adding those meager 3 points is far better than losing half your score.

Re: Looking for new games
Thu, March 10, 2005 - 2:26 PMSo nobody's mentioned Fox and Hound, Fuck-All (F/A), Tick-Tack-Toe, Shanghai, or Golf. I'm sure others have played at least variations of these or perhaps know them by a different name. As for the rules of each, I'm not going to profess my knowledge for all the details. However, if anyone's truly interested, I could probably put something together to give a basic description of any or all of the aforementioned games.
I have now reached my post quota for the week.

Re: Looking for new games
Fri, April 7, 2006 - 1:51 PMI like practicing 101 double in/out and do the math in your head. You can finish the game in 3 darts, but it's tough. -

Re: Looking for new games
Fri, April 7, 2006 - 4:58 PMI've also played Burma Road, like Eric's above, but right before Bullseye at the end, we add a 21. In order to score 21 points you have to hit three DIFFERENT numbers. One 6, one 7, and one 8 is one way to do it, and another is Double 7, single 5, and single 2. Any score over 21 busts and your score is halfed.

Re: Looking for new games
Sat, November 4, 2006 - 7:09 AMBOXES: This game is best with 4 or more players but not required. You start with the "splash" tossing 2 darts at the board at the same time, they both must score, the player with the highest score starts the game 2nd highest is #2, etc. The game start with the score of the first 3 darts of the first player, the second player must beat that score, the 3rd must beat the 2nd players score and so on. When a player fails to beat the previous players score he/she gets a mark and sets the new score to beat. When a player has 4 marks, a box, they are out of the game.
The last player left is the winner. We play this game with a pot of a buck a player.
